Frequently Asked Questions.
Q) How far is it to the beach? A) Walk to the end of Knox Road, through the dunes and emerge at Pirates Bay in the Mornington Peninsula National Park (on the Bass Strait side of the Mornington Peninsula) in about 5-7 minutes. Q) Can we swim there? A) We recommend only one place to swim in our section of the Mornington Peninsula National Park. There is a beautiful low tide lagoon at Bridgewater Bay, which is about 12 - 15 minutes walk from Hidden Treasure. Each of the cottages has an 'easy to read' tide chart to tell you when is the best time to go. See photo - there is a fantastic jumping rock at the Bridewater Bay lagoon. Not for the faint hearted! Q) How far apart are the cottages? A) The cottages are about 15 metres apart and are separated by fencing and lush native gardens. There are no shared facilities besides the carport. They are positioned for maximum privacy from the hosts and from each other. Q) Is it really private? A) Yes, your hosts will not deliberately invade your privacy for any reason other than to greet you on arrival, ensure that the tariff is paid up or address any serious problems that may arise during your stay. We know that you are not coming to visit us for your holiday and don't want to see us every time you come and go...we like our privacy too! Q) Can we squeeze more that four people into the Crew's Cottage? A)Council and insurance restrictions limit overall guest numbers at Hidden Treasure to six people (includes infants), so to accommodate more than four in the Crew's Cottage means that we are unable to book out the Captain's Cabin. This is not something we would ever allow if there is even the most remote possibility of getting a booking in the Captain's...so the short answer is no. Q) Can we have guests over for a BBQ? A) Of course, your guests are welcome. However, they must be off the property by 9:30pm and their vehicles must not occupy the driveway or carport. Any damage, excessive noise or other problems that may arise because of the presence of your guests is the responsibility of the registered Hidden Treasure guest and it is expected that this will be promptly 'fixed up'. Q) How far is the front beach? A) Blairgowrie front beach (Port Phillip Bay side of the Mornington Peninsula is about 2 kms, so it's 2 or 3 minutes in the car. The beaches any where along this stretch are excellent for safe swimming etc. Q) Where are the nearest shops? A) Blairgowrie shopping strip is on Pt. Nepean Road, on the Port Phillip Bay side, about 2 kms. There is a supermarket, bottle shop, butcher, chemist, newsagent, green grocer and post office as well as a couple of terrific places to eat and drink. Q) What is the view like at Hidden Treasure? A) The cottages are nestled into a native garden setting...there is no view. The only real-estate that has a view is this area is the Mornington Peninsula National Park which runs the length of the Peninsula on the ocean beach side. It's like the Great Ocean Road without the road! Rugged, natural and spectacular - and it belongs to us all!. Q) How far to Sorrento/ Portsea? A) Its about six kms to Sorrento, so about 4-5 minutes by car. Many of our guests like to walk there along the paths in the National Park. This takes a couple of hours but the scenery along the way is superb! (Coffee, food etc when you get there - just as good!) There are nearly 30 kms of walking tracks in the National Park and you can actually walk all the way to Cape Schanck lighthouse in the other direction.
