Hidden Treasure discovered by the bay
Hidden Treasure at Pirates Bay is a bed and breakfast establishment that lives up to its name. Nestled behind a private tea-tree garden in Blairgowrie, Hidden Treasure is a charming weekender just a few minutes' walk from the Mornington Peninsula National Park.Owners Annie and Graham Angliss have decorated the two-bedroom timber cottage with a nautical theme, including delightful porthole windows and a brilliant leadlight lighthouse feature.
Hidden Treasure is so warm and welcoming that it comes as no surprise to learn that it was once the Angliss' own home. The open-plan cottage is spacious, comfortable and great for families with its fully self-contained kitchen and separate living and dining areas.
The airy loft bedroom features a wrought-iron bed draped in netting - perfect for drifting off to sleep with the soothing sound of waves rolling in the distance. Another bedroom next door contains bunks. The cottage also has split-system air
conditioning, ceiling fans and a great potbelly stove with an ample supply of split wood. Its paved courtyard, fernery and manicured gardens provide the perfect setting for summer barbecues.
To ensure their guests enjoy privacy, the Angliss' supply a well-stocked breakfast basket including a range of local produce and bacon and eggs to cook at your leisure. They also offer a great selection of videos and magazines for guests to enjoy and there's even a hammock for whiling away the hours.
While it may be tempting to lock yourself away and forget about venturing out, there's also much to do in the area, including making the five-minute drive into Sorrento, with its great shops, pubs and restaurants. For nature lovers the five-minute walk along tracks through tea-tree and sand-dunes to Pirates Bay is a must. With miles of ocean before you and just the sound of crashing waves, the area is peaceful and the coastal scenery stunning.
